The Trail to the Dock/ Kayak Launch

There are several ways to access the trail. You can access it from the swimming pool. Facing the pool the trail is on the right off the parking lot.

You can also access it at an opening in the trees directly across from the road sign at the corner of Broadway and Spring Street. Just walk out the driveway, turn left, and when you see the intersection look to your right in the trees and you’ll see a trail sign.

Although you will see a kayak on the rack on the outside of the house, we do not currently provide that to guests. But if you have your own kayak there is a kayak trolley in the shed that you may use to get your kayak to the launch.

No kayak? No problem!

Paddle On-kayak & paddle board rentals to the rescue. Rent from the self-serve kiosk with your credit card-includes a life vest and paddle. It has 4 different locations with its easy-to-use kiosk! Open 24 hours a day.

Great Launch Locations:

Lancaster County’s public kayak launch at Westland beach at the end of State Route 695 (Windmill Point Road).

Urbanna’s Town Marina for a day out on Urbanna Creek (210 Oyster Rd, Urbanna, VA)

Hughlett Point Natural Area Preserve

Belle Isle State Park

I’d recommend driving over to the swimming pool and going from there as it would be closer. To get to the swimming pool, out of the driveway turn left, take Broadway to the end where it intersects with White Fences Road. Right at that intersection to your left is the entrance to the pool. If you do kayak from here be advised at low tide it is extraordinarily low as it is the terminus of Carters Creek. So make sure you go out and back during a high tide. You may also take your kayak to the town launch area. See separate section.
